Food has always played a very important role in my life. Growing up with my father being one of the best chefs in Cape Town, I was constantly introduced to foreign cuisines, always fed delicious meals and continuously inspired by exciting flavors and food preparation. I found my own passion and love for cooking a few years ago and since then, my kitchen has become my place of absolute joy.
When I discovered the art of baking, there was no turning back. I fell in love with preparing and creating baked goods, as well as finding my passion for food photography and food styling. I created my then online bakery Bake. because I got the excuse to cook all day and design new recipes, as well as have the opportunity to share them with you. Now, due to an exciting turn in my life- which you can read on about later- I have transformed the online bakery into a delicious recipe & food blog.
As much as I love sweet treats (and just food in general), I also try to live a life dedicated to being healthy, fresh, positive and balanced. I am always looking for a new eatery that offers healthy menu choices, as well as inspiring food & wellness bloggers who share the same mindset. I also love brands. And foodies. Like, who doesn't? Over the years I have received some incredible opportunities, including cake competition wins, blog features, newspaper articles and T.V appearances. You can read more about these by simply selecting the stories in media.
To cut a long story short, it all started with a cake. Not just any cake, but my One & Only Chocolate Cake. After achieving third place in the Sunday Time Chocolate Cake competition, I received some incredible experiences, including the dream of getting to meet food editor and author Hilary Biller. She forwarded my details to the amazing Zola Nene from the SABC 3 Expresso Morning Show and before I knew it I was invited to be on the show. I now have the greatest joys of being a part of the Expresso family and have baked on their show over 50 times. It has been an incredible three years and I look forward to many more! Before/ during my food career began I completed my studies at Ruth Prowse School of Art in 2014 where I studied for three years and obtained my Diploma in Photography. During my final year I decided to create a cookbook dedicated to the local chefs who inspired my food journey. My book titled Our Food has delicious recipes and stories from me and 12 incredible chefs, including Giovanni and Nicolas Esposito, Samantha Linsell, Zola Nene, Justine Drake, Jenny Morris, Marlene van derWesthuizen, Tracy Foulkes, Hooman Saffarian, Romano Gorrini, Reuben Riffel and Liam Tomlin. It was an honour meeting them an having them a part of this project!
